What ACM Signage Is Used For

ACM is the most popular substrate for shopfront fascia signs — the flat panel spanning the width of a shopfront above the window line that carries the business name and brand. ACM gives a clean, flat, professional look that holds graphics perfectly flat without warping or bowing, even in full sun. A painted ACM fascia with vinyl or direct-printed lettering is the standard specification for quality shopfront signage.

Building Facade & Cladding Signage

Large ACM panels for building identification — multi-storey building addresses, business park entry pylons, industrial shed cladding panels with brand graphics. ACM can be installed as continuous cladding or individual sign panels on a building facade. What is ACM (Aluminium Composite Material)?+
ACM is a sandwich panel made from two thin aluminium sheets bonded to a polyethylene or fire-rated mineral core. The result is a panel that is rigid, flat, very lightweight relative to its stiffness, and highly weather resistant. ACM is used extensively in commercial signage, building cladding, wayfinding systems, shopfront fascias and architectural applications. It comes in a wide range of paint and anodised finishes from the manufacturer, and can also be printed or vinyl-wrapped over a painted surface.
What sizes of ACM signs can you produce?+
ACM panels are manufactured in standard sheet sizes up to 1220mm × 3050mm (4 × 10 feet). Single-piece signs up to this size are available without joins. For larger signs — building directories, large fascias, cladding panels — we join multiple panels with concealed joinery or design the joins into the graphic layout. Our CNC router cuts panels to any size and shape.
How is the graphic applied to ACM panels?+
We offer two print methods for ACM signage. Direct UV flatbed printing applies ink directly to the ACM surface using UV-cured inks — ideal for complex full-colour graphics and photographic images. Vinyl application laminates a digitally printed or cut vinyl film to the ACM surface — provides excellent durability and is the standard approach for signs requiring a specific colour match or a reflective finish. Both methods are protected with a UV laminate for long-term outdoor durability.
Is ACM suitable for outdoor signage?+
Yes. ACM is one of the most durable outdoor signage substrates available — it is rated for 10+ years outdoors without significant degradation. The aluminium face resists corrosion, the polyethylene core is waterproof, and the painted or printed surface can be protected with a UV laminate or clear coat for additional durability. ACM is used in building cladding applications that must survive decades of exposure, which gives it significant performance headroom for signage.
Can ACM signs be illuminated?+
ACM panels themselves are not translucent and cannot be backlit like a lightbox face. However, ACM is commonly combined with illumination through external floodlighting or spotlighting of the panel, or by cutting letters or shapes out of the ACM and applying a frosted or coloured acrylic behind the cutout — allowing backlit illumination through the cut shape.
